Men's Waxing FAQ
DO A LOT OF MEN GET WAXED?
YES! ALL types of Guys. Waxing is becoming more and more popular these days. We see couples. young, old, and everything in between, athletes, swimmers, bikers, wrestlers, bodybuilders, hikers, sunbathers, etc. Men find they are more comfortable after waxing.
WHAT AREAS ARE MOST POPULAR TO BE WAXED?
Our number one men's service would be a full back wax and shoulders, second is unibrow, and third is the male Brazilian.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN?
For most body areas, the regrowth is pretty slow. You are usually looking at 3-6 weeks. We want to get all your hair onto the same growth cycle. it will give us the best results so it's important not to wait too long between appointments. Just make sure that if you are used to keeping it shaven or trimmed down, we need a couple of weeks of growth.
WHAT IS THE MOST PAINFUL AREA TO BE WAXED?
We would have to say the chest/stomach. Mostly the chest. Unfortunately, it just happens to be very sensitive and usually pretty coarse hair. Take a couple of ibuprofen. It won't make it painless, but it sure takes the edge off.
WHAT IF I GET “EXCITED” DURING THE APPOINTMENT?
This is actually a very common and normal reaction to getting waxed; it happens about 50 percent of the time. There is no need to stress about your wax, your technician is a professional. We won’t acknowledge it; we’re too busy trying to give you the most even and smoothest wax possible.
What To Do Before Your First Wax
What To Do Before Your First Wax
Clean yourself. “Please shower before your appointment,”
Take a little extra care down there, being dirty is just gross. And rude.
Scrub yourself. Just like shaving your face, when you remove hair from your body, you want to rid the surface of dead skin cells ahead of time to minimize the chance for clogging pores. Doing so 24 hours in advance helps prep the skin.
Please don't wait until your hairs are too long to wax. This can make the process a lot longer and more uncomfortable. Also, make sure they are long enough (at least a quarter of an inch) for the wax to adhere and grab them easily
Don't shave between treatments. The goal of consistent hair removal is to remove the root of the hair so it grows back new making it softer, finer, and fewer in number. Shaving will disrupt the cycle and waxing more painful or will make the hair growth too short to wax.
Don’t trim yourself. “Don't trim your hair, and don't shave the genital area for at least two weeks before coming in for your male wax appointment,” “cleaning for the housekeeper” rule does not apply here. Trimming yourself can result in cutting hair too short which can prevent your waxing specialist from pulling the hair out completely, which can increase the likelihood of ingrowns.
Take two OTC painkillers. Not the big stuff. Something similar to Advil works fine. This helps to reduce any discomfort in specific areas as well as minimizing any inflammation caused by the process.
Post Wax Care
Let your skin breathe. Do not put on skintight clothing because this can cause irritation, chafing, and possibly ingrown hairs. Wear cotton or breathable underwear at night to allow the freshly waxed area to breathe.
Shower immediately after exercise to keep follicles clear and bacteria-free (or use a baby wipe in a pinch).
Apply a cold compress to the area if you find your skin is heat sensitive after treatment. Cooling will help to constrict blood vessels and relieve discomfort.Back Wax Care
These are the basic guidelines to make a huge difference....
1. Keep the back clean, sweat-free, and as cool as possible after your back wax treatment: so avoid exercise/ gyms/ sauna and any extreme heat.
2. Wear a clean cotton loose-fitting t-shirt after your back wax: bring a clean one with you to change into after your waxing it keeps skin clean and bacteria-free.
3. Avoid gym, exercise, swimming, or sports for 24-48 hours: Freshly waxed skin has open pores that are more prone to bacteria and infection.
4. Use a cleansing shower/skin wash that contains some antibacterial properties.
5. Use a suitable moisturizer for the areas that you can reach: not always easy to reach all of your back but you can purchase a Back lotion applicator online $9-18 to apply lotion to areas you cant reach.
5. After a few days start to gently exfoliate the skin using an exfoliating hand mitt: GENTLE is the keyword!!.. Keep it gentle and 2/3 times a week, NOT every day!
